It’s official! The Green Bay Packers will face the Pittsburgh Steelers for the Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011 at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, North Texas.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will be playing their third Super Bowl in six years after winning a crucial match against the New York Jets for the AFC Championship last January 23. Their spectacular defense paid off during the last quarter as they returned a fumble for a touchdown. Add to that a late goal-line stand that brought them to victory, 24-19. The Steelers led 24-0 in the first half but the Jets were able to catch up in the third and fourth quarter. The victory was a big relief for the Steelers as they try to achieve their seventh Super Bowl win. They currently hold the record with six Super Bowl victories.
Earlier that day, the Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears, 21-14 in the NFC championship game to claim the first spot for Super Bowl XLV. The hero for that game was Aaron Rodgers, due to his magnificent TD-saving tackle. Rodgers had a phenomenal season and he is expected to continue his hot streak on the day of the Super Bowl 2011. The Packers currently holds three Super Bowl wins and they will definitely put up a fight in getting their fourth one when they face the Steelers this weekend.
Super Bowl XLV 2011 will air on Feburary 6, 2011 at 6:30pm Eastern Time on FOX.
