NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Results: NASCAR 2011 Results for Subway Fresh Fit 500- The 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season is the sixty-third season of professional stock car racing in the United States. Beginning at Daytona International Speedway, the season includes thirty-six races and two exhibition races. The season will conclude with the 2011 Ford 400 at Homestead Miami Speedway.
During the 2010 season, NASCAR announced major calendar changes, including adding a race to Kansas and Kentucky Speedway after removing the Kobalt Tools 500 and the Pepsi Max 400, and changes to the points system. Once the 2010 season concluded, NASCAR also announced that the fuel will be changed from Sunoco unleaded to an ethanol blend called ‘Sunoco Green E15?. Chevrolet entered 2011 as the reigning Manufacturer’s Champions, while Jimmie Johnson is the defending Driver’s Champion.
Meanwhile, Kyle Busch chases the sweep: After leading 307 of the 350 laps of competition so far – including all 200 laps of yesterday’s Basha’s 200 Nationwide race – Kyle Busch is a victory today away from his second-career sweep of the NASCAR national touring series. He previously won the Camping World Truck, Nationwide, and Sprint Cup races at Bristol last August. He has one career Sprint Cup win at Phoenix, as a rookie in November 2005.
Apparently, the pre-season testing season began on 20 January 2011 with a three-day test at the Daytona International Speedway to test the new nose on the car, as well as the new surface. Also in the sessions, the opening of therestrictor plate was reduced from the 30 / 32 inch plate used in tire testing in December to 29 /32 inch. NASCAR vice president for competition Robin Pemberton stated, “We’ll have to get back and talk to the teams and look at the speeds from the last two days of testing. I think we have some high-water marks at 197-and-a-half which, depending on where they pulled up in the draft, it may be a little quick, but it’s hard to say.
