The New York Jets stunned the New England Patriots 28-21 on Sunday, securing a spot in the AFC Championship game. Rex Ryan and the Jets are now a win away from a second straight AFC title game and a possible Super Bowl appearance.

It was probably the game hyped up the most among NFL divisional playoffs with both teams trading jabs all week. Most of the trash talk came from the Jets side as expected. This time around, they back up all the talk with a stunning upset of the Patriots. The Jets play the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday for the AFC Championship and a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

Mark Sanchez outplayed Tom Brady, throwing three touchdown passes and completing 16 of 25 passes for 194 yards. Brady went 29 for 45 for 299 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. The Jets defense sacked Brady five times.

Sanchez threw two of his touchdown passes in the first half to give the Jets a 14-3 lead at the break. A single touchdown pass by Brady in the third quarter pushed the Patriots within 14-11.

Sanchez issued another touchdown pass within the two minutes of the fourth quarter for a 21-11 lead. New England could only respond with a field goal less than two minutes left for 21-14 but Shonn Greene of the Jets scored on a 16-yard rush for a touchdown to put the game away, 28-14 with 1:41 left.

Brady’s touchdown pass Deion Branch with 24 ticks left in the game proved to be the Patriots’ last gasp as the Jets have virtually clinched the game, 28-21.
