Football Score: Stanford vs California NCAA Football Live Coverage on ESPN - The ranked no. 7 Stanford Cardinal and the California Golden Bears will collide and have a showdown for the 113th time and for a Pac-10 matchup this Saturday afternoon.
The Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, California will be the venue of the Stanford vs California matchup. The game will have a kick off time of 3:30 pm ET,, Satuday, November 19, 2010.
Apparently, Stanford holds a 55-46-11 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to 1892, but Cal has gotten the better of the rivalry of late. Since 2002, the Bears have won seven of eight meetings and that includes a 34-28 victory at Stanford last season.
“When you have the best quarterback in the nation, a Heisman candidate on the other side of the ball, you just have do your job and keep them out of the end zone,” cornerback Richard Sherman said. “No matter how long it takes, he’s going to get it done.”
Defensively, Stanford was on top of its game last weekend, limiting ASU to just 268 total yards and 13 points. The unit spent less than 18 minutes on the field, as ASU was held to just a 1-of-9 effort on third downs.
On the other hand, the California Golden Bears nearly shook up the national title picture last week, but a penalty followed by a short field goal miss ultimately cost them in a 15-13 loss to top-ranked Oregon. Cal has alternated wins and losses over its last six games and still needs one more victory to become bowl eligible.
Cal has been a different team at Memorial Stadium, where it’s 4-1 and has outscored opponents 202-49 while forcing 12 turnovers. It has allowed 203.4 yards per game at home — best in the nation and nearly 200 fewer than it gives up on the road.
With 849 yards and 11 TDs, Stepfan Taylor is the top option for the ground attack, which averages 213.5 ypg, and Doug Baldwin is the primary target for Luck with six TDs. Taylor wasn’t much of a factor last weekend, but Baldwin made an impact with 10 catches for 122 yards.
