UFC 123 Fight Card Results: Rampage Wins vs Machida - It was indeed a great performance too and Quinton “The Rampage” Jackson released a record of an impressive win over his rival Lyoto Machida. The UFC 123 Results for main event shows that people’s expectation of Rampage to win the bout comes into a reality.

“Machida whipped my ass tonight,” Jackson said after the fight and raised his opponent’s hand immediately at the end of the fight. “Even though I don’t want to, I think an immediate rematch would be the fair thing.”

In the main event bout, Machida was graciously after the fight and said that the judges saw Rampage winning the fight and that what happened. During the fight proper, Machida scored the only knock down of the fight with a third round of combination that put Jackson on his back. Moreso, he also got the mounted position and threatened with the only serious submission attempt of the night.

With the last minute of the bout, Machida then attacked Jackson’s left arm and Jackson tried for a slam. Machida escaped and they returned to their feet. Machida initiated a clinch with 30 seconds left. Machida took him down and attacked a leg but Jackson escaped and Lyoto worked his rubber guard at the end of the fight.

Meanwhile, Jackson threw leg kick to open the third. Machida answered. Jackson lunged in behind a right. Leg kick from Jackson. Jackson coming forward behind a combination but from too far away. Machida dances away. Machida taged Rampage and hurt him.

For a record, it was a split decision that put Rampage in a victory win status in this light heavy weight clash. And at the end of the bout, the  score was 28-29, 29-28, 29-28 in favor of Rampage.

The two great fighter and former light heavyweight champion met at a crossroad in their careers. Now both men entered the UFC 123 coming from a lost and that is Rampage from a decision to Rashad Evans in UFC 114 and Machida was KTFO’s by Mauricio Rua to lose the tile in UFC 113.

What joke of a decision….Maybe Jackson wins the 1st round…maybe. No way he wins the 2nd or 34rd round. Dana White is turning into the Don King of MMA.

Oh my god!Where did you go to school? This is so poorly written it’s laughable. Your grammer is atrocious.
“Rampage released a record of an impressive win?” What does that mean?
“People’s expectation(s) of Rampage to win the bout comes into a reality?” Are you retarded or just a moron?
“Machida was graciously after the fight?” Graciously? How about just gracious? There are so many mistakes it would take all day to correct this mess. Go back to the third grade and learn basic grammer you dumb ass!

Yeah, this sounds petty, but: Can’t you all find a literate sportswriter?! Some of the sentences are virtually unreadable, others almost make no sense. It’s like reading instructions for something made in China, where the persons who type them up can barely speak or write in English. Just awful.

uhh, guys, if it ain’t obvious that english is NOT this writer’s first language, then maybe it’s not YOUR first language either?

so yeah, the point still got across…it was a close fight, the decision was controversial, and even rampage seemed to agree that he had lost. so despite the grammatical issues, i’d say mission accomplished.

  27. mike on Thu, 25th Nov 2010 11:24 am

i feel this article was written, or at east ordered by dana white. complete B”S.

I respect Rampage a lot for being most honest and humble guy in MMA. He doesn’t deserve to be cursed by comments, only prased.

Machida’s losses will stop when he’ll stop calling Karate – Machida Karate. He didn’t bring anything special in Karate to call it by the name of his Family.
He should take Rampage as a teacher of humbleness.

BTW i am for Machida and believe, that potentially he is the best LHW fighter in UFC as of now.

  28. machida fan (honestly) on Sat, 27th Nov 2010 3:26 pm

For me, the fight was close to call. I think the decison was mainly to uphold Jackson’s career in UFC [knowing his career in UFC is not as colorful (yet) as his PRIDE's]. Maybe White thinks that if ever Jackson’s gonna lose (to which I think he did in the fight), speculations of Jackson slowing down will come to a conclusion, or at least close to a conclusion, that indeed he has.

On the other hand, Machida losing is not new any longer because of his first loss to Shogun. And most still believe in Machida’s ability to win despite of his 2 losses.

True enough to what others said that Dana White is becoming the Don King of MMA.

p.s. I am humbled by the reaction of Jackson during the post-fight interview. For me, fight was awesome and Pudge’s article is unbelievably self-centered.

Kkarate_Fighter (“KkF”) on “UFC 123 Results.”

KkF thinks the fight was close & both fighters did a good job.

On Rampage’s part, he was aggressive & pressed the action. Lyoto remained on the defensive against Rampage for much of the fight. The judges saw his efforts & rewarded him (narrowly).

Lyoto’s Shotokan karate kumite point-style was in top form & he really gave Ramapge a challenge. Had Lyoto spent just a mite less time on the defensive & scored just 1-more solid follow-on attack, the match would have clearly been his.

Even with the win, Rampage gave Lyoto’s highly mobile defense high marks; saying, “…he [Lyoto] was hard to hit.” In Rampage’s favor, Lyoto’s defensive karate-style failed to seal- the-deal.
