Its New Years Day 2011 today and in celebration of the New Year, another live action is hereby to witness by millions of mma and UFC fans out there as another episode of UFC entitle UFC 125 Resolution will be held at the MGM Grand  Garden Arena which will start at exactly 9:00 pm ET, Saturday, January 1, 2011.

The main event will feature Champ Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard. A rematch of the only loss in Frankie Edgar’s career and Edgar is an improved wrestler and he’ll need it. Everyone – seriously, everyone – thinks that Maynard can just blanket Edgar to death. Edgar only has two finishes in his UFC career and Maynard only has 1 1/2. This could be a spirited bout or it could be the most boring wrestling match of 2011.

Furthermore, this is a fight that will be largely determined by who controls distance. If Edgar can move in and out, create angles and separation from Maynard while striking, it’s his fight to lose. By contrast, if Maynard can force Edgar out of position, stay in close and use that for takedowns in a wrestling match, he’ll become champion.

On other main event, Phil “The New York Bad Ass” Baroni is well aware that he needs a win in this fight or his UFC career will most likely be over. Tavares, enters the fight with a 6-0 record and will face his first real test against the veteran Baroni (13-12).

Meanwhile, UFC president Dana White recently spoke about the non-aired prelims and told them that the UFC and Spike TV are currently working on a contract extension and that he expects that selected preliminary card bouts will return to airing on Spike TV in the upcoming year.
