UFC 127 Official Fight Card: UFC 127 Penn vs Fitch Fight Bout Live Telecast - The much awaited UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on February 26, 2011 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, at exactly 10:00 pm EST/ 7:00 pm PT. Thiswill mark the second time the UFC has held an event in Sydney, following the sold-out UFC 110 in 2010.

Tickets for UFC Fight Club members went on sale on December 14, 2010. UFC 127 sold out moments after going on public sale on December 16, 2010, selling faster than tickets for UFC 110, and making it the fastest-selling event, along with UFC 115, in UFC history.

ESPN in U.K. will air the Ross Pearson vs. Spencer Fisher fight, which was confirmed by Jon Anik on MMA Live. Ion Television will air the Pearson/Fisher, Te-Huna/Gustafsson and Ring/Fukuda preliminary bouts, while the Perosh/Blackledge and Zhang/Rheinhardt preliminary bouts will stream on the UFC’s official Facebook page.

On February 9, it was announced that a knee injury had forced Carlos Condit out of his bout with Chris Lytle. Condit was replaced by promotional newcomerBrian Ebersole.

Both Fitch and Penn made weight, with Fitch at 170lbs and Penn at 167lbs.  After the weigh-ins they stared at one another nose-to-nose for the photo opportunities. Fitch said of this big match, “I’m pumped to be fighting B.J. Penn, he’s a legend, I respect him, but I’ve got to beat him. He has what I want.”  Meanwhile, his opponent, BJ Penn, said he would do all his talking in the ring.  This could be quite an intense battle during tonight’s big Pay-Per-View event.

Fitch is favored by most prognosticators in the octagon at Sydney’s Acer Arena on Saturday, but don’t be surprised if the Australian crowd is solidly behind Penn. Fitch (26-3) is among the world’s most dominant mixed martial artists, but his smothering, ground-based style hasn’t yet earned him many fans, or a second UFC title shot.

“The UFC’s popularity is exploding in Australia, even faster than we could have expected,” Zelaznik stated. “Over the last 18 months, Australia has become one of the top three or four markets in the world for us. When you consider UFC programming is enjoyed by tens of millions of fans across 150 countries, that’s a big statement about the passion Australian sports fans have for the UFC.”

As with the UFC’s first trip to Australia, the event takes place on Sunday afternoon, but due to the time change between the two countries, U.S. fans will be able to view the pay-per-view in its customary Saturday-night timeslot.
